December 21, 2021 at I am going to hold a Longest Night worship service on Zoom. I will be presenting the service from my home and invite all who would like to join me. This service, sometimes known as a Blue Christmas, is meant to recognize that during the holidays when we celebrate great joys with friends and family, we also remember our losses which can be felt profoundly as the days get long.

I lost my dad in June which is hands down the closest relationship I have ever lost. My husband's father died last year. It is good to remember these loved ones during the Christmas season. Death is not the only sense of loss that can feel profound at this time. Divorce, lost income, seasonal depression, illness, loss of a pet, and a myriad of life’s challenges can spark blue feelings even as we look to celebrate.
Bring all of you. Bring the joy and bring the pain. We will celebrate and we will recognize our grief. We will worship God who is with us in both our joy and pain.
If you would like a link to join in this service, make sure I have your email and let me know you want a link to an invitation.
The picture is of Hazel, an adorable kitten that we fostered in 2019. Hazel's adopted mom found a home for them just days before Christmas. We miss her and are happy her and her mom found housing so they could be together.
